At present, you can get to Culebra by airplane from San Juan, Isla Grande regional airport, next to Old San Juan (30 minutes) for $150 with Air Flamenco or Vieques Air Link round trip, or a charter (please see our FAQ section for complete information). Additionally, Cape Air begins a new service from SJU International Airport beginning mid-December 2013, https://www.capeair.com/ Also, you, you can fly from Ceiba (10 minutes) for $88 r/t (Both VAL and Air Flamenco) or by charter (again, take a look under FAQ).
Ferrying is the alternative. Culebra is currently serviced by a passenger ferry (approx 45 minutes by the Fast Cat) or cargo boat, which takes about 2 hours from Fajardo $4.50 r/t. Guests should check with us regarding the ferry situation and we always recommend that you fly, in high-season it is definitely worth flying as spending 8 hours queuing for ferry tickets with no guarantee of success is a waste of your vacation time.
Fajardo is about 1.5 hours drive from the San Juan International Airport. Cieba regional airport is another 10 minutes drive via Fajardo on route #3.
To get to/from Fajardo options:
You can rent a car one way for approximately $80 plus insurance ($10-15) & a $25 drop off fee OR you can take a taxi for approximately $85.00 (Al Cuellar 787-590-9001) to $100.00 (airport taxi not previously arranged).
